So, I made a last minute trip to the much-awaited Bhutan Bird Festival in the small isolated little town of Tingtibi in Zhemgang

There is a hidden hot spring located on a cliff in the mountains of Zhemgang, south central Bhutan.

I had heard of a far flung heritage village in south central Bhutan. Little did I realize the village was more than its aesthetic appeal.

In the beginning of 2020, Bumthang district unveiled an ancient trail in the highland mountains of the district. We were invited to document this unseen trail later that year.

When I was a little girl my grandmother told me stories of sacred mountains, holy Lakes, giant cypress trees and the deities that lived in them. On my recent trek along the epic rock path trail, I felt closer to those stories, those Memories, those tales that took me to a land far away to a land of fantasy. Come with me as I take this journey.

Baribrang is filled with remnants of Pema Lingpa’s life before he became the renowned Terton. Gartshang, where he learnt his art of blacksmith is one of them.

We finally arrive at Baribrang – the forgotten birthplace of Terton Pema Lingpa and the home of a stupa slowly seeing a resurrection.

Retracing the life of Terton Pema Lingpa also leads us discovering stories of locals who continue to keep his legacy alive.
