Introduction
In the hustle and bustle of Thimphu town, come to Dip N Slurp to slow down. You will enjoy their authentic Thai cuisine. With calm white washed walls, smooth wooden furniture, this alcove seems to be bathed in sunlight coming from their wide windows. Decorated tastefully with minimal artworks, crawling ivy plants and a short hallway illuminated by multiple lights. Thinley Gyeltshen proudly remarks, “ My wife decorated the interiors,”.
Their Story
He, with his wife, Thinley Bidha and two other friends, Namdrak Rinchen and Tsewang Norbu. They began this business on 16th June, 2022, as a takeout spot during the pandemic. These four friends who have a united love of Thai food and having spent a few years in Thailand, opening a restaurant specializing in Thai cuisine was an easy choice. “Food blogging and eating out was becoming this new culture in our country and seemed like the most profitable venture for us. We picked dishes that we knew, loved the taste of and also never done before in Thimphu. Our partners and I have spent several years in Thailand mainly for college but the food was the most memorable . We wanted to replicate some of it here.” says Thinley Gyeltshen.
What’s On The Menu?
While you are here, you must try their pork/ Shrimp Suimai. It might look like tiny yellow momos but are completely different with their delicate taste. Another dish that you won’t be able to get enough of is Fried Chicken Larb. The crunchy chicken is perfectly offsetted by the not so pungent raw onions and peanuts. You must also try the Pork Satay that comes along with sticky rice, chili sauce and cucumbers. The chicken curry that we tried had a slight sweetness and thick gravey to spread over your rice.
If you have not tried Thai food yet, Dip N Slurp is the place we recommend. For you and your family.
